Volunteering Opportunities

No matter what interests or time you have, there is sure to be a way you can support Quaker Service. From dressing up as Santa, handing out presents at our childcare centres at Christmas, to helping us springclean our premises - volunteers contribute so much to our work.

Some Friends organise coffee mornings, concerts, sponsored walk or other fundraising events to raise much needed money to keep our services going. Perhaps you could organise a collection of good quality stock for our shops at your workplace or in your community? We would love to hear from you if you have a professional skills or another idea of how you could contribute to our work as a one-off or on an ongoing basis. Please get in touch on info@quakerservice.com

Volunteering In the Prisons

Our fabulous team of volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, we always welcome enquiries from people who are interested in getting involved.

Currently we are recruiting for volunteers to train as befrienders to visit people in Maghaberry and Magilligan prison and Hydebank Wood College.

There are many reasons why families and friends have limited or lost contact with someone in prison, but we know that good social support is one of the main factors in reducing reoffending.  Our befrienders provide support which in time alters the befriendees attitude, beliefs and behaviours, making a real difference to lives and communities.

We need our befrienders to be non-judgmental, good listeners, empathetic and reliable. Could you join them?
