We're delighted to introduce Alexey Janes, who has recently joined Quaker Service as the new Executive Director. Alexey brings over 35 years of experience in the voluntary and community sector, having worked across Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Most recently, Alexey spent ten years with Ulster Wildlife as Community Engagement Manager, helping people connect with nature and championing community involvement in environmental work.
Alexey holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Youth and Community Work from the University of Ulster, along with a Level 7 ILM qualification in Leadership and Management. Throughout his career, he has led youth and community development programmes in North Belfast and previously headed up two Northern Ireland wide charities; The Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster and the Reminiscence Network NI.
Outside the office, Alexey is a dedicated foster carer and enthusiastic about everything to do with nature and woodland crafts.
Alexey joined Quaker Service in mid-February and has hit the ground running. He’s already enjoying getting to know our staff, volunteers, Board members, and supporters. We’re thrilled to have him on board and excited for the vision and energy he brings to Quaker Service.
"I’m really pleased to be joining Quaker Service. From my first day, I’ve been struck by the warmth, dedication, and compassion shown by volunteers and staff alike. I’m excited to work together as we continue making a positive impact in the lives of people and communities across Northern Ireland."
